ABOUT BREAST IMPLANTS

Everyone’s body is different. Even the smallest differences are important when it comes to selecting the right kind of breast implant, silicone gel or saline. Comprehensive measurements and an evaluation of your skin and breast tissue characteristics play a key role in determining what kind of implants fit your unique shape.

Allergan Natrelle Style 410 Shaped Gel
Allergan’s NATRELLE® 410 Breast Implants have a teardrop shape designed to resemble the human breast in shape, weight, and feel. They are filled with a highly cohesive silicone gel that is intended to provide more volume in the lower breast and less volume in the upper breast, and help the implant maintain its shape over time. The highly cohesive breast implant has a textured surface.

Silicone Gel
Silicone is a chemical compound made from silicon, the earth’s second most common element, found in rocks, sand, and quartz, for instance, and is used in lotions, soaps, processed foods, and many other everyday items. Silicone is used in both saline and silicone implants, as it makes up the outside shell or pouch. Because silicone gel has a texture similar to that of breast tissue, silicone breast implants tend to have a more natural look and feel than saline implants.

Saline
Saline implants vary in shell surface (i.e. smooth or textured), volume, shell thickness, profile, and shape (round or anatomical). There are also expandable implants. Most saline implants are single lumen, and are filled at the time of surgery.
